This week on the European Senior Tour marks the end of an era and the start of a new beginning for the Scottish Senior Open. Previously held at the Torrance Championship course , Fairmont, St Andrews for the last six years and sponsored by SSE for the last three of those, the Scottish Senior Open has found a new home for its 23rd edition on the European Senior Tour and welcomes a new headline partner, Prostate Cancer UK. The new host venue, Archerfield Golf Links, in Scotland, is one of the finest golf resorts in the world and will make a fine host venue for one of the biggest events on the senior schedule.
Gary has been one of the most consistent players on the European Senior Tour since he joined in 2010 and the Scottish Senior Open event has been no different for the Carus Green Golf Club ambassador. Gary has not finished outside the top 20 in any of the previous four Scottish Senior Opens he has played in recording his highest finish of 13th at the 2011 event, then called the Cleveland Golf / Srixon Scottish Senior Open.
Currently residing in 31st position on the European Senior Tour Order of Merit, Gary needs a strong finish to end of the season at the Scottish Senior Open, Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters at Woburn, French Riviera Masters at Terre Blanche and the tour grand final in Mauritius as he bids to make the top 20 and secure his playing rights for the 2016 season on the European Senior Tour without having to go back to Qualifying School.
You can follow all the live scoring from Archerfield this week through the European Senior Tour website at www.europeanseniortour.com/seniortour and watch Gary’s progress live.
